My Portfolio
A few notes about my previous work...
Much of my work does not represent my personal tastes and skills as a designer. I'm by no means an artist, but I can create well designed interfaces when given the freedom to do so. I have a strong understanding of UI design, strict standards based formatting, and development requirements of both the US ADA and UK DDA. However that costs money, and sometimes budgets just don't account for those expenses. So with that in mind here is some of the work I've done in the past...
MyEdu Corporation
A beautiful site with well designed interfaces. A testament to the full-time design staff employed by MyEdu. I cannot take credit for any of the design, but I have implemented or refactored many of the features in the following screens.
My Responsibilities on the public website include integration of HighCharts (www.highcharts.com), Facebook Like, Login & Facepile integration and a bunch of backend performance enhancements for various features (though performance is still a significant pitfall in the given architecture.)
On the backend I'm also the chief architect of their data collection system. This C# application suite includes a variety of components that facilitate the compilation of course schedules, book lists, and degree requirements.
The system starts with a scripting IDE that eases development in a proprietary language design for specialized data scraping by novice developers. Step debugging, code inspection, basic syntax highlighting, tailed logging wrapped around the automated control of Internet Explorer enables MyEdu to wrangle data from over a thousand public schools.
Then in conjunction with my own automation library written in Javascript, the scripts are processed and distributed to Amazon EC2 cloud instances for processing. A server side worker queue handles executing the scraper code, and processing the resulting data.
Premiere Global Services
Great site - reworked from an open source package down to its bare bones and built it back up into a fully functional content management system for their online customer support group.
The site included online videos via BrightCove, seo friendly urls and a fully functioning backend management system. As an added bonus I wrote an MSO:XML parser (what MS Word uses to export word documents to HTML) that converted a majority of MS Word's horrific markup into clean XHTML.
Neopost Software & Integrated Systems (NSIS, aka Loopone)
This work represents some massive scale shipping software a coworker and I wrote for Neopost an the UK Postal System. Hundreds of thousands of transactions per day combined with complex postal regulations and packaging rules. As utilitarian of an interface as can be, but it is specifically tuned to the needs of the postal workers.
Opus Healthcare
My favorite application to date. Extremely complex patient management software that pushed the limits of web technology. This ajax web app was more application than web page, and we didn't have any frameworks to pave the way. This was the start of my love for Javascript.
